I have always loved jewelry. I remember the first jewelry purchase I made with my hard earned money. It was a turquoise ring from the Totem Pole gift shop in Nisswa, Minnesota. I think I was seven years old. A few years later, my cousin Kelly and I discovered we could make pendants by placing pennies inside my grandpa’s pill bottles and melting the plastic in the oven; not exactly a great look, but pretty creative. It was through Campfire Girls that I learned to love beading. My favorite project was a beaded headband we created on looms we made out of cigar boxes. I can’t remember NOT being accessorized. Well, there was one exception, and I was NOT happy about it. I spent six months in Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom College Program, and we were not allowed to wear any jewelry as cast members while at work. You can bet that the minute I got back to my student housing at 15767 Seven Dwarfs’ Lane, Snow White Village (I did not make this up 😉 ) I reached for my costume jewelry. It didn’t matter if I was going for a run, or hanging around our tiny pool, I was completely color coordinated and accessorized. My roommates still joke about it!
